Speaking for the majority of clients, I normally do see a deeper color trend becoming popular at this time of year. “As we enter fall/winter, it’s important to keep in mind that our complexions shift now that we aren’t in the sun anymore. “I actually love when the seasons change because it means I get to revamp the tones and contrasts on my clients’ hair,” says Jenna Pitocco, a New York–based hairstylist and cofounder of the Love, Dunette salon.
As such, it’s no coincidence that the hair color trends for fall lean a bit warmer and darker, inspiring even those with the most flaxen shades to opt for a more seasonally appropriate dark blonde hair color. While there’s no rule saying you must dye your hair darker come fall, there is something about the longer nights and cooler temperatures that makes bright, sun-drenched strands feel a bit out of place this time of year.
